MLB Betting Preview: Astros at Royals 6/15

November 30th, 2010 Betting on MLB Baseball

There’s much better teams in MLB betting to be sure, but that doesn’t mean that the baseball betting matchup between the Houston Astros and the Kansas City Royals won’t be exciting.

As interleague play gets into full swing sports betting fans get a chance to see intriguing NL-AL MLB betting matchups that they wouldn’t normally get to see.

On June 15th the Royals and Astros will kick off a three-game MLB betting series in Kansas City.  You can be sure that the attendance will be low but the scores should be high, at least in the opener of this series.

With respective records of 27-37 and 25-39, the Royals and Astros are not good teams.  But they are evenly matched and that should make for a very entertaining baseball betting matchup.

The Royals will have one big advantage as they’ll be playing at home, although attendance is generally poor for this team especially during the middle of the week.  Nonetheless, it’s something and every little bit helps in this type of evenly matched MLB betting contest.

The Royals, at least on paper, also have a big advantage at the pitcher position as KC will send Kyle Davies (4-5) onto the mound versus the Astros’ Felipe Paulino (1-7).  Based on the win-loss records of these two pitchers you might think Davies would win handily.  But Despite having an awful record, Paulino has a pretty decent ERA of 3.82 versus Davies bloated 5.48.

All things considered it seems as if Paulino is due for his luck to change and after having pitched well for the first 1/3 of the season he’s due for a win.

Either team has any real notable weapons at the plate, or much of this baseball betting matchup will be decided at the plate.  Paulino has been the better pitcher this season even if his record doesn’t reflect that.  Add to that the fact that KC is just 12-18 at home (the team is actually worse playing in Kansas City than on the road) and you have to like the visiting Astros’ chances in this MLB betting matchup.

While this might not be the sexiest baseball betting matchup on the calendar, it might just be one of the most interesting ones and Houston should be able to take Game 1 of the 3-game series on the road.
