Lester & Boston Favored vs. Twins in Thursday MLB Gambling

Jon Lester and the Boston Red Sox are favored on Thursday against the Minnesota Twins.

It is the second game of a brief two-game series between the two teams.  Lester has been the best pitcher for Boston in recent weeks and he is a solid home favorite in baseball gambling odds against the Twins.

MLB gambling odds favor Boston even though Minnesota has the better overall record. The Red Sox have been around the .500 mark this season and in the American League East that is simply not going to get it done.  Lester has not been the problem recently as he is 3-2 with a 3.91 ERA this season.

Lester has gone seven innings or more in each of his past four starts.  He pitched earlier this season against the Twins and gave up nine hits and four runs over five innings.  At home, Lester is 2-1 with a 3.98 ERA this season.

Before this series began, the Red Sox had won six of the last ten games against the Twins. Earlier this season in Minnesota, the Twins took two of three from Boston. Two of those games went under the MLB gambling total while the other game was a push.  Minnesota won 8-0 and 5-2 while Boston won 6-3.

Minnesota is above .500 on the road this season and that means they are a team worth considering in MLB gambling.  Anytime a team is at or above the break even mark on the road they are likely to make you some money.  Home teams are almost always favored in baseball gambling unless it is a team like Kansas City or Pittsburgh.   The Twins are capable of winning on the road with an offense and a defense that are ranked in the Top 10 in the league.

Boston has not looked like a playoff team so far this season.  They have struggled offensively at time and their pitching, other than Lester has been a mess. Even though they have solid offensive numbers, too many times they don’t get the big hit.  The pitching has been a major problem but it should be noted that Lester is not one of those problems.  He could be the one Boston pitcher that is worth backing on the staff.  Lester usually keeps Boston in the game and at home the Red Sox are normally a solid team.
