Lee has been exceptional of late and he should get most of the baseball wagering action in this game.
MLB wagering on the Mariners has not been very successful this season but Cliff Lee is the one exception. He is 5-3 on the season with a sparkling ERA of 2.55. In his last start against the Reds, Lee was excellent as he shut out Cincinnati 2-0. He is expected to be opposed on Wednesday night by Randy Wells who is 3-5 on the season with a 4.92 ERA. Wells finally pitched well last time out against the A’s as he allowed just two runs on seven hits in seven innings.
The Cubs had won four of the last six against Seattle before this series began. Before yesterday’s game, the last series was in 2007 in Chicago. The Cubs took two of three in that series and all three games went under the total. The only other series between the two teams was in Seattle in 2002 and the Cubs took two of three with all three games going under.
The Cubs have not played that well on the road this season but they are not that great at home either. Chicago is overvalued a lot in MLB wagering because people love to bet the Cubs. Chicago does have a little pitching as they are 10th in the league in ERA but they have not hit the ball much, ranking 22nd in runs per game. That has meant some low scoring games and that could be the case in this one on Wednesday, especially with Cliff Lee on the mound for Seattle.
The Mariners have not been very good this season but recently they have been better. They swept Cincinnati in their latest series and gave up only one run in the three games. The Mariners are 12th in the league in ERA but they have not been able to hit at all. With Lee and Hernandez in the rotation, the Mariners at least have two starters who can hold opponents to very few runs. The Mariners have been far better at home than on the road so they have a legitimate chance to win this game against the Cubs on Wednesday night.
