Late Night MLB Betting as Indians Host Dodgers in Cactus League

MLB betting favors Cleveland on Monday as they host the Los Angeles Dodgers in Cactus League play.

The Dodgers get more attention in baseball betting but the Indians have an interesting team that could surprise some people this season.

MLB betting results on the Indians could be determined by their starting pitching.  The team is still trying to find their fourth and fifth starters.
"Those last two spots," pitching coach Tim Belcher said, "are still heated competition." It looks to be a four way battle between Mitch Talbot, David Huff, Aaron Laffey and Carlos Carrasco.  Most people believe that Talbot is going to get one of the spots.  He has been excellent so far this spring.  Carrasco was not expected to even be in the mix but he has pitched so well that the Indians have noticed. "He's pitched his way right into the conversation," Belcher said, "Not that he wasn't before, but he was on the younger end of all those guys, with less experience at Triple-A and less experience at the big league level. Early on, you just figure the best thing for him would be going to [Triple-A] Columbus. But with the way he's pitched, and with Huff and Laffey struggling a little bit, he's going to stay right in the mix until the middle of next week."   Carrasco was acquired in the Cliff Lee trade and it looks like he is ready to take off. "I want to prove they can trust me," Carrasco said, "[and] that I can make the team and keep the ball down."

Huff won 11 games last season for Cleveland in MLB betting but he is giving up the long ball in Spring Training. Huff or Laffey could end up in the bullpen for the Indians but that decision won’t be made until the fourth and fifth starters are named. "I think it's probably going to be the end of next week before that's nailed down," Belcher said.

Cleveland has a lineup that can impact baseball betting. They are looking at a lineup of SS Asdrubal Cabrera, CF Grady Sizemore, RF Shin-Soo Choo, DH Travis Hafner, 3B Jhonny Peralta, 1B Matt LaPorta, 2B Luis Valbuena, C Lou Marson and LF Michael Brantley.  The team would like to have Russell Branyan in that lineup but he has a herniated disc in his lower back.
