Houston at New York Yankees on Tuesday, March 16, 2010

Baseball betting is going to favor the New York Yankees a lot in 2010 and that will be the case again on Tuesday as they host the Houston Astros in Grapefruit League action.

It is expected to be a split squad game so lines in MLB betting may be unpredictable.

Baseball betting with the Yankees has them with a powerful starting lineup and a solid pitching staff.  One of the players that goes under the radar in baseball betting for the Yankees is Robinson Cano.  He may hit down in the order a bit but he can still drive in runs. He is actually the youngest regular on the Yankees.  New York has so much respect for Cano’s ability that they are moving him up to fifth in the lineup. "I think Robbie's matured as a person and as a player," manager Joe Girardi said. "I like what I see. His work ethic is tremendous."   The New York lineup in baseball betting is likely to have Derek Jeter leading off followed by either Nick Johnson or Curtis Granderson.  Mark Teixeira is going to hit third followed by Alex Rodriguez, Cano, Jorge Posada, Granderson or Johnson, Nick Swisher and Brett Gardner.

If Cano hits fifth he would be in an interesting spot in the lineup since he would follow Alex Rodriguez in MLB betting.  The concern for Cano and for those that follow him in baseball betting is that he hit just .207 with men on second or third base. "Last year when I was hitting fifth, I didn't do what I was supposed to do with men on base," Cano said. "But you know what? It's a different year now." He should get a lot of chances in this lineup to drive in runs. "I expect him just to be the good hitter he is," Girardi said. "Wherever we hit him."

If the Yankees are to be effective they will need some protection for Rodriguez in the lineup. They are counting on Cano to be that player and drive in runs. "Everybody can hit in this lineup," Cano said. "You're always going to find men on base."   Girardi is sure confident in his young hitter. "He's always been projected after his first year that eventually he would move up in the lineup," Girardi said. "He's got so much ability and tools. Young players sometimes, you want to ease them in. But to me, Robbie's not a young player anymore."  The Yankees are the favorite in baseball betting to win the 2010 World Series.
