The National League Cy Young award was thought to be a cinch for Colorado’s Ubaldo Jimenez but there is another pitcher who has better numbers and is red-hot in MLB betting. Florida’s Josh Johnson has simply been unbelievable this season and when he goes to the mound, gamblers take notice in baseball betting.
MLB betting odds would normally favor the San Francisco Giants when they are at home but not on Tuesday as they host the Florida Marlins. Johnson is putting fantastic numbers for the Marlins this season and he is expected to get the start on Tuesday. Johnson is 10-3 on the season with a 1.61 ERA. He has gone 13 straight starts without allowing more than two runs. He has given up only one run since the All-Star break. In his last three starts he is 2-0 with a 0.44 ERA. The only negative for the Marlins and Johnson in this baseball betting matchup is that Johnson is 0-3 in his career against the Giants with a 3.00 ERA.
It should be Matt Cain going for the Giants on Tuesday. He is 8-8 on the season but he has very good numbers. His ERA is 3.10 and he has allowed just 112 hits in over 136 innings of work this season. In his last two starts he is 2-0 with a 1.20 ERA.
Before this series began, the Giants had won 14 of the last 20 against the Marlins in MLB betting. The teams met for a three-game series back in May in Florida and the Giants swept the fish. Two of those three games went over the total. It would seem hard to believe that Tuesday’s game could go over with Johnson and Cain expected to be on the mound.
Florida has been just about as good at home this season as on the road so they could be worth a shot in this Baseball betting matchup, especially with Johnson on the mound. It is tough to go against Cain and the Giants at home but Johnson has been untouchable lately. The Giants are a team that goes under the total at home so it should be a low scoring game. Look for a total in baseball betting of 6.5 in this game on Tuesday.
