In the past few years no division in baseball betting has had as compelling competition down the stretch as the NL West and year in and year this is division has one of the top records in MLB betting.
The two most well known teams in this division, and generally the two most competitive teams, are the LA Dodgers and the San Francisco Giants.
On Monday June 28th these two historic baseball betting franchises will square off by the Bay. For the first time in what’s seems like an eternity the Dodgers are not in first place in this division. In fact, for the most of the year it’s been the tough-pitching Padres that have been atop the MLB betting standings and with a record of 45-30 San Diego has actually put some distance between itself and the rest of the division.
The Dodgers enter Monday’s baseball betting matchup in third place with a record of 40-35 (5 games out) while the Giants are currently second with a record of 40-34 (4.5 games out). This series is huge for both teams and this series could have a major impact on how the NL West division race plays out in the MLB betting action.
The Dodgers will send Chad Billingsly to the mound (6-4, 4.34 ERA). His numbers over the season aren’t bad but his last three MLB betting starts he’s given up 14 earned runs in 19 innings.
The Giants will send former CY Young winner Barry Zito to the mound. Zito (7-4, 3.45 ERA) has had a baseball betting resurgence of sorts this season after a disappointing year last season. This year he’s been solid and should throw well on Monday.
San Fran has home field advantage and should win this baseball betting matchup. The Dodgers are an awful road team (16-20) and its bats have cooled off a bit of late. The Giants have dropped two games in a row heading into this game and are due for a win.
