Freeway Series Excitement in Baseball Lines

Baseball lines favor the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday as they host the Los Angeles Angels in a preview of Freeway Series action.

This is still a Spring Training game in baseball odds but it will be played at Dodger Stadium and that gives the Dodgers a slight edge.

Baseball lines are always popular when these two teams meet.  With Interleague play they will normally have a Freeway Series sometime during the regular season but they also meet in Spring Training.  They played yesterday in Anaheim when the Angels were favored in baseball odds.

If the Angels are to impact baseball lines this season and win another American League West title they are going to need a big season from Ervin Santana.  The Angels lost John Lackey in the off-season so they need Santana to pitch well. He is expected to start the third game of the regular season at home against the Twins.  He pitched yesterday against the Dodgers in Anaheim.  It was just two years ago that Santana was an All-Star and the Angels need him to return to that form. His outing last week was a good sign.  "Ervin actually threw the ball very well," manager Mike Scioscia said. "I was excited to see the ball coming out hot like that. It matches what he had earlier in the spring. He'll be ready to go. That was a great outing for him."

Last season was not a good one for Santana and those that bet on the Angels in baseball lines suffered.  Santana missed the first part of last season and really never got things going. "Last year he never really had his good fastball," Scioscia said. "He was a little banged up in Spring Training. He's moved forward. The ball's coming out of his hand hot. You saw his stuff today."  Santana will be an interesting pitcher to watch next week as the regular season begins.

The Dodgers have pitching issues of their own that could impact their baseball lines.  Ramon Ortiz looks to have made the team and could be a spot starter while Ramon Troncoso has made the team as well. "A year ago he was our 12th guy and turned into something much more important than that," manager Joe Torre said, "He didn't have a terrific spring, but there was never a question whether he's on the club or not."
