The Dodgers swept the Padres in San Diego over the weekend and now the teams meet again, this time in Los Angeles for a brief two-game baseball wagering series.
MLB wagering odds favor the Dodgers but not by a huge margin. In the series last week two of the three games were one-run contests. The Dodgers won 1-0, 4-3 and 4-1. All three of those games went under the total. Going back to last year, the last six meetings between San Diego and Los Angeles have gone under the total.
Jon Garland is expected to get the start on Wednesday for the Padres. He was looking for his fifth win last week against the Dodgers but the bullpen let the game get away. Garland is 4-2 on the season with a 1.88 ERA. He allowed just two runs over six innings in his last start against the Dodgers. He still felt he could have been better though. "Way too many balls, way too many walks, I gave them too many opportunities," he said. "It definitely seemed like a big struggle out there." The Dodgers will be going with Ramon Ortiz who will be making his second start of the season. On Friday night he gave up three runs in just over four innings.
The Padres are 11-7 this season on the road so they are capable of winning in MLB wagering in this matchup against the Dodgers. The Padres are winning with pitching as they have the top ERA in the league. They were outpitched in the series against Los Angeles last week though but they may have the edge this time around, especially on Wednesday night when Garland goes up against Ortiz.
The Dodgers have been better at home this season than on the road. Los Angeles is in the mix in the National League West because of their home record. They did improve their road mark though last week with that sweep over San Diego. The Dodgers have been winning with offense until recently when the pitching staff really turned things around. The Dodgers rank in the Top 5 in the league in runs per game. Their ERA is improving but they still are below average in the league.
