Dodgers Sign Johnson, Mariners Pick Up Garko

November 30th, 2010 Betting on MLB Baseball

Baseball bet had the Los Angeles Dodgers signing Reed Johnson to a one year contract while the Seattle Mariners added Ryan Garko.

The Dodgers have not done much this off-season while the Mariners have made a number of deals that have affected their baseball betting odds.

Baseball bet stats had Johnson hitting.255 with four homers and 22 RBI in 65 games for the Cubs last season. He has batted .282 in 784 career games, with 52 homers and 306 RBIs. The Dodgers will be looking at Johnson as their fourth outfielder.  The Dodgers bench does not look very good as baseball bet indicates so Johnson is a much needed addition. "Defense and defensive versatility are more valuable than whether he hits righty or lefty," said general manager Ned Colletti. "[Johnson] can play all three outfield positions."  The Dodgers are even looking at Doug Mientkiewicz as a possible left-handed bat as baseball bet has it, so that tells you how desperate they are. The Dodgers are one of the favorites in baseball betting in the National League but they have issues, especially with the starting rotation. Baseball bet has the Dodgers looking to bring back Jeff Weaver and they are looking at Noah Lowry.

The Mariners are the team making a lot of noise in baseball betting.  They have made a number of off-season moves including getting Cliff Lee from the Phillies. They signed Ryan Garko on Monday and he could be another impact player.  And the Mariners got him for next to nothing as it is a $550,000 dollar one-year deal. The deal could double with incentives if Garko plays on a regular basis.  He had just 12 RBI in 40 baseball bet games with the Giants.  "I wanted to go back to the American League. I feel I’m a better fit over there," Garko said, "I have my book [on opposing AL pitchers]. I have my film. It’s nice to go back, get back to being more comfortable."

Garko really helps the Mariners in terms of a player who can move around and hit for power. "We think he is a player that adds versatility as a right-handed hitter with experience playing first base, designated hitter and catcher," Mariners general manager Jack Zduriencik said.

If you are looking to a team to make a baseball bet on in 2010 you want to take a serious look at Cleveland. They have possibly the best one-two pitching punch in baseball bet odds with Felix Hernandez and Cliff Lee.  They have made some excellent off-season moves and they could be a team to watch all season in baseball betting.
