Dodgers May Bring Back Gagne

Baseball bet a few years ago had Eric Gagne as one of the best closers in all of baseball.

In fact, Gagne won the Cy Young as the closer for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2003 when he went 55 for 55 in save opportunities as baseball betting stats indicated. Things have not gone well lately for Gagne but the Dodgers are considering bringing him back.

Baseball bet had Gagne pitching for Milwaukee in 2008 but he did not make the team last year.   Gagne was great in 2003 and over a three-year period he saved 84 straight games.  Things went downhill though and in 2007 his name appeared in the Mitchell Report, which had evidence in it that Gagne had used human growth hormone. Gagne has had very little to say about the report.  What is clear though in baseball betting is that he has not been an effective pitcher in the Major Leagues for some time.  He was not very good with Milwaukee as baseball bet stats showed and his Los Angeles days seem a long time ago.

While the Dodgers are considering signing Gagne, so are the Rockies.  Colorado is managed by Jim Tracy who was managing the Dodgers during the time that Gagne had his great saves streak.  Gagne had 45 saves during the 2004 season and got a big contract from the Dodgers but he never delivered on the big deal. He got hurt and really did very little for the team. How well Gagne would do with Los Angeles is a major question mark since many baseball betting people believe that Gagne is through.  Even if Gagne does make the team he will not be a closer. Baseball bet has the Dodgers considering him for a middle relief role. The Dodgers have closer Jonathan Broxton and setup man George Sherrill. Baseball bet also has them with Hong-Chih Kuo, Ronald Belisario, Ramon Troncoso and James McDonald.  If Gagne had anything left he might be able to challenge for a spot but he has simply shown nothing in recent baseball bet years.

The Dodgers are considered one of the main contenders among those that make a baseball bet.  Los Angeles really didn’t do much in the off-season while teams in their division, especially Arizona look improved.  The Dodgers still have a talented team though and they are a threat in baseball betting this season.
