MLB Betting Preview: Colorado Rockies

MLB betting gurus have never picked the Colorado Rockies to win the NL in the short history of this bet on MLB franchise.

And in a move that should surprise no one MLB betting fans, neither have they done so this bet on MLB season. However, the Rockies are a team capable of beating the odds as evidenced by their amazing run in the MLB betting post season two seasons ago and anything could happen in 2009.

MLB betting handicappers identify the team’s main weakness every MLB betting season as a weakness in pitching. No other MLB betting team has to contend with the same forces of nature as the Rockies must battle on a nightly basis. With the thin alpine air of Denver being a MLB betting pitcher’s worst nightmare opponents score run in heaps on the Rockies. This has always been the case ever since the first year in the Mile High City and it will continue to haunt the Rockies pitchers this bet on MLB season.

The starting rotation is headed up by Aaron Cook who put together a decent set of stats in the ’08 MLB betting season. Despite the expected high ERA (3.96) he compiled a record of 16-8. He’ll be followed up in the MLB betting pitching rotation by Ubaldo Jimenez and Jorge de la Rosa who combined for 22 wins against the bet on MLB competition last season. This, in fact, could be one of the best MLB starting rotations this team has had in quite some time.

The team will need it considering it traded away its best hitter, Matt Holliday, for closer Huston Street among others. More than likely Street will struggle against the MLB betting competition just like every other reliever the A’s have built up and unloaded on other MLB betting teams during the reign of GM Billy Beane. But there’s still plenty of spark left at the plate for the Rockies who have some pop in the middle of their MLB betting lineup.

Troy Tulowitzki had a big drop off last MLB betting season but he should bounce back this season. He’ll bat third in the lineup followed by all star slugger Todd Helton who also slumped last MLB betting season. Two hitters to watch in this lineup are the fifth and sixth hitters, Garrett Atkins and Brad Hawpe who both have 30 HR potential.

All told, this team could finish anywhere from fourth to first in the NL West MLB betting standings.
