Cliff Lee on Phillies Radar

The Philadelphia Phillies would like to get Toronto’s Roy Halladay but so far the Blue Jays price has been too high.

With that being the case, the Phillies have had their scouts watching Cleveland’s Cliff Lee. And they have liked what they have seen. In his last three starts, Lee has gone 3-0 with two complete baseball betting games. If the Phillies can’t get Halladay they may work out a deal with the Indians for Lee.

The Phillies and Indians have already talked about a potential trade with Lee involved and the Phillies are willing to give up the players it would take to get him. It just remains to be seen if they pay the price to get Halladay instead. Toronto has said they want right-hander pitcher Kyle Drabek, left-hander J.A. Happ and outfielder Dominic Brown. The Phillies has said that price is too high. The Phillies don’t have that issue with the Indians. Drabek is a 21-year-old right-hander, and the team top baseball bet pitching prospect. Brown is one of the top position players in the Phillies system and Happ is a 26-year-old rookie who is 7-1 this season as baseball betting statistics tell us.

The Indians have been looking at trading Lee and catcher Victor Martinez and one of the teams interested is the Los Angeles Dodgers but no deal has been worked out yet. In fact, the Dodgers denied that a deal was in place for Martinez. The problem for Cleveland is that if they trade Lee and Martinez it would be a sign to their fans that they are in a rebuilding mode again. That may not matter though since Cleveland is out of the race this year and must start thinking about the future. The Dodgers are also looking at Lee since getting Halladay seems unlikely. The Dodgers have some players that could work in a trade for Lee. Pitching prospects James McDonald, Scott Elbert and Chris Withrow are players the Indians are looking at as baseball bet information shows.

While getting Halladay would change a team’s baseball betting odds at the sportsbook, getting Cliff Lee probably would not. He does not have the huge price tag associated with Halladay. If the Phillies or Dodgers get Lee their baseball betting odds at the sports book wouldn’t change a great deal as both teams are already the two favorites in the National League to win the World Series.
