Baseball Odds Battle For L.A.: Dodgers vs. Angels 6/23

November 30th, 2010 Betting on MLB Baseball

One of the best thing about Interleague baseball odds action is the fact that you get to see rare and unique sports betting matchups that you wouldn’t otherwise get to witness.

Take for example the Subway Series in the New York.  The West Coast version of this baseball lines matchup often gets overlooked, and it’s not really a Subway Series as the public transportation in LA is awful, but nonetheless, when the LA Angles and the LA Dodgers play it’s a big deal in the baseball betting world.

What makes this baseball lines matchup even more interesting, aside from the fact that it’s the two local teams from the second largest city in the country playing, is the fact that year in and year out these two teams are always at the top of their divisions and this year is no different in that regard.

The Dodgers will visit the Angels and bring with them their 38-31 record which now sits atop the baseball odds standings in the NL West.  The Angles are currently second in the AL West trailing the Texas Rangers by 3.5 games, but have a better record at 39-33.

On the mound the home team Angels also have a definite advantage.  Joel Pinero is hardly having a career year but with a record o 6-6 and 4.45 ERA he can still manage to salvage a decent year and his NL experience will serve him well against this cross town rival.

The Dodgers will hand the ball to John Ely a youngster at the bottom of their rotation.  His 3-4 record and 4.15 ERA aren’t awful, nor are they impressive.  But in a battle against a seasoned vet like Pinero you have to like the Angels chances.

The Dodgers have scoring runs like crazy all season but with a less than stellar pitcher to start the game they’ll need to score a bundle.  And with a road record of 15-18 the team plays much better in the friendly confines of Chavez Ravine.

Look for the Angles to win this installment of the baseball odds battle for LA.
