Thursday Baseball Betting – NLCS Game 5 – Philadelphia at San Francisco

The National League Championship Series gets the entire spotlight in baseball betting on Thursday as the San Francisco Giants host the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 5.

The last couple of days have seen both the ALCS and the NLCS playing games but on Thursday it will just be the game between the Phillies and Giants in MLB betting.

Halladay vs. Lincecum – Game 5 will be a pitching rematch of Game 1 between Roy Halladay and Tim Lincecum.  It was Lincecum and the Giants who came out on top in the first game.  Cody Ross hit two home runs in that game for the Giants and San Francisco was able to come away with a 4-3 road victory.  The Phillies with Halladay were -160 favorites in Game 1 against Lincecum and the Giants. In Game 5 the odds in MLB betting at Sbg are very close with the Phillies a very slight favorite.

Halladay on the Road – There is not much difference in the numbers for Halladay at home vs. on the road. He wins pretty much everywhere.  He is 10-5 on the road this season with a 2.57 ERA.  This will be his first road start in the playoffs.

Lincecum at Home – Lincecum was actually better on the road this season than he was at home.  That is going to sound strange but there is no denying that Lincecum was a better pitcher this season on the road.  At home he was 10-7 with a 3.40 ERA.  Those numbers are not bad but they are not great either.  Lincecum’s road record and his ERA were actually better than what he had at home.

Thursday Trends – The Phillies are 4-0 in their last 4 game number 5’s of a series. The Phillies are 22-6 in their last 28 road games. The Phillies are 5-2 in their last 7 Thursday games. The Giants are 7-0 against the baseball odds in their last 7 Thursday games. The Giants are 7-3 in their last 10 home games.  Total trends in indicate that the Under is 5-2 in the Phillies last 7 road games. The Under is 4-1 in the Giants last 5 home games. The Under is 10-3-1 in the Giants last 14 overall.
