Mountaineer Race Track wasn’t known as Mountaineer until 1990, as its name was Waterford Park until that time.
With the ownership of Mountaineer Gaming Group, the reputation of the track changed from being one of an old, run-down track with cheap horses to a track that can offer respectable purses.
The track, located in Chester , West Virginia has a main dirt track with a one mile oval. The turf course is seven furlongs long and inside the dirt. The track is curved slightly in the front stretch.
