The World Golf Championship at the Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio has become the playground of Tiger Woods and a great golf betting event.  The defending champion of the event is Woods and he is the golf betting favorite again.  He defeated Stewart Cink in a playoff last year to win the title for the fifth time in his career and please golf betting fans.

The World Golf Championship is an exclusive event as not all players are entered in this golf betting tournament.  To get into the tournament you must be in the Top 50 players in the world or be playing members members of the last-named United States and International Presidents Cup teams, playing members of the last-named United States and European Ryder Cup teams, tournament winners since last year or winners of select world-wide tournaments.

Woods won the first three World Golf Championships for golf betting fans, which were all played at Firestone Country Club.  In 1999 Woods beat Phil Mickelson by one stroke for golf betting fans.  In 2000 he had a tournament record 21-under to win by an amazing 11 strokes and thrill golf betting fans.  He won in 2001 in a great seven-hole playoff with Jim Furyk that was a great golf betting tournament.  In 2002 the golf betting tournament was played at the Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Washington and Australian Craig Parry won for the first time in the United States.  In 2003 it was back at Firestone and Darren Clarke won by four strokes in the golf betting tournament.  In 2004 Stewart Cink led all the way and won by four strokes over Tiger and Rory Sabbatini in a golf betting upset.  In 2005 it was Woods winning by a shot over Chris DiMarco and in 2006 he won over Cink as the golf betting favorite.

In 24 career World Golf Championship starts, Tiger Woods has 13 victories and 22 top-10 finishes for golf betting fans. Amazingly enough, just in this event his earnings of over $13 million would be #40 on the all time PGA Tour money list.  In 32 career rounds at the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational, Tiger Woods has led following 14 of the rounds for golf betting fans. He is the only player to record top 10s in all eight World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitationals for golf betting fans.

Since the tournament’s inception in 1999, he has never finished lower than fourth for golf betting fans.  He is a very deserving golf betting favorite.  Other players worth considering in golf betting this week are Stewart Cink who has always played well in this event, Phil Mickelson who will be one of the golf betting favorites behind Woods and maybe even Jim Furyk who has also shown he can do well in this golf betting tournament.
