The 2016 Golf World has another tournament coming our way with the 2016 Farmers Insurance Open that starts on Thursday the 28th and runs thru Sunday the 31st of January 2016 with opening round tee off at 9 AM ET with tournament played at Torrey Pines in San Diego, California.

J. Day finished his 2015 season with a solid and hot stretch while winning a Title in the PGA Championship and fans now question will this be his 1st Title of 2016 or will we see another talented golfer take the Title.

Day at the end of last season performed as 1 of the World’s best as he won the RBC Canadian, the PGA Title, the Barclays and the BMW Title and that 4 titles in the span of 6 tournaments. He should have no problem finishing this tournament if not winning in the top 10 which would give him 2 straight top 10 finishes. He has a win in this tournament in 2015 in a playoff with H. English, J. Holmes and S. Stallings as he finished with a -9 and total of 279 for the tournament win.
Day is a very good player but will have to stay ahead of D. Johnson who comes into this tournament after finishing solid in 3 events, as in the top 5 of the WGC-HSBC Tournament, then 15th at the Hero World Challenge and 10th at the Hyundai Tournament and has been playing well to date in this 2016 Tour of the PGA.
D. Johnson got a late start in the 2015 season as he participated in that season Farmers Open and expensively missed the cut for the tournament. He made a comeback with top 4 finishes in 3 events in the tournaments that followed. Fans and experts think he will have an outstanding season in 2016.
Then we have some sleepers that could easily come out and win this tournament in R. Fowler and/or P. Mickelson. Fowler to date has been hot as he recently won the Tour in Europe in the Abu Dhabi HSBC tournament in another part of the world. He has been dubbed as the “Clutch” player as in that last event he won with a chip shot birdie on the 18th hole for a 1 shot lead and the title. Also this season he has played well with consecutive top 5 finishes with a 5th place finish at the Hyundai and a 3rd place at the Hero Challenge.
Then there’s P. Mickelson who in his career has won this Farmers Insurance Open on 3 occasions, with the last win being back in the 2001 season, and since then he had only managed a 2nd place in the 2010 season. His last tournament win was the British Open in 2013. But never overlook this guy and some still think he has the winning spirit.
Another sleeper is B. Haas who recently has some missed chance as he just this past week he came close to a 3rd win at the Career Builders tournament as going to the 6th hole he was just 1 stroke of the lead but was unable to hold that and finished with a -19 and a 269 for the tournament and a 9th place. Apart from that in his ultimate 3 events has been in the top 10 some 2 times.
If Hass is to come back to the victory lane in this tournament he will need a top performance and have his 1st title of 2016. In this Farmers Open last season he was 19th at a -4 and 284 for the match, and struggled late, and also finished the last round with a 74 in that tournament.
