B.C. Lions CFL Odds

CFL odds on the B.C. Lions could be a little bit higher in 2009 considering the Lions lost some good players in the off-season.

British Columbia lost the league’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player in Cameron Wake and one of the best offensive linemen in the league in Rob Murphy. Those two losses are huge and will affect B.C. in Canadian Football betting.

CFL odds information tells us that the B.C. did add linebacker Anton McKenzie but they lost Jamall Johnson, Jason Pottinger and Otis Floyd. B.C. does have talent though and they can win games versus the CFL odds. Buck Pierce is their #1 quarterback and he is joined by backup Jarious Jackson and Zac Champion. Who they have to throw to is a big question mark that will impact CFL odds. The running game also looks weak for B.C. in 2009. Releasing Jason Clermont was a huge surprise in online sports betting, so it will be up to Geroy Simon to have a big season. Losing Stefan Logan to the NFL is another huge blow for a B.C. offense that looks to have a lot of holes. The team does like Martell Mallet so perhaps he will be an answer and impact the CFL odds.

British Columbia does have some strengths though in Canadian Football betting, including a secondary that led the league in interceptions with 27 last year. Losing Wake upfront though is going to hurt B.C. on defense as online betting information shows. Wake had 23 sacks to lead the league last season as Canadian Football betting information shows.

British Columbia has an experienced head coach in Wally Buono and he will need to figure out how to mesh this team together in 2009. The losses suffered by B.C. in the off-season were big and it will take Buono’s best effort to find replacements. "I’ll say it publicly, we’re no longer on top of the mountain. We’ve been knocked off there last year. Other teams; and I will say it in a nice way, got to our level. No longer are we maybe a better football club than the other teams." Buono said.

British Columbia plays in the tougher Western Division which makes things difficult in CFL odds. They have to deal with a talented Calgary squad and that is never easy in Canadian Football betting. British Columbia went 11-7 straight up last year but they were a disappointing 8-9-1 against the CFL odds.
