Breeders Cup Classic Contender Student Council

November 30th, 2010 Breeders Cup Betting

Student Council gained automatic entry into the Breeders Cup Classic with his win in the Pacific Stakes Classic.

Student Council is also coming off a win in his final prep race, the Hawthorne Gold Cup.

Student Council was originally trained by Neil Howard, went to the barn of Vladimir Cerin where he won the Pacific Classic to qualify for the Breeders Cup Classic and then won the Hawthorne Gold Cup with trainer Steve Asmussen. A big strength of Student Council in the Breeders Cup Classic is likely to be his stamina.  He won the Pacific Classic on Polytrack at a mile and a quarter. His pedigree shows that he is the son of the great turf sire Kingmambo who produced Lemon Drop Kid.  He is also half brother to Grade Point.  Student Council was not even on the radar of most horse betting players for the Breeders Cup Classic this year until his surprising win in the Pacific Classic.  The horse backed that win up with a nice win in the Hawthorne Gold Cup.  Could it be that a long shot wins the Breeders Cup Classic again?  If so, then Student Council could be an interesting pick in the Breeders Cup Classic at double-digit odds.
