There is $26 million up for grabs in race purses over the two days and a total of 184 horses have been pre-entered. It should be a great two days of Breeders Cup odds.
Much of the attention in this year’s Breeders Cup will be on the unbeaten Zenyatta who will be looking to make it a perfect 20 for 20 and then retire. She is favored in the Breeders Cup Classic. No horse has ever won three Breeders Cup races but two will be trying this year, Zenyatta and Goldikova. Zenyatta will have to beat a tough field in the Classic including Preakness winner Lookin at Lucky. Goldikova will be going for her third straight win in the Breeders Cup Mile. She may have an easier time than Zenyatta but she will still have to beat Proviso and Paco Boy.
This will be the first time ever in Breeders Cup history that a race will be held under the lights. The Ladies’ Classic will feature the brilliant Blind Luck who has won five races this year including the Kentucky Oaks.
Wide Open Filly and Mare Sprint
This race drew 22 pre-entered horses. There can only be 14 starters so some of the horses will be left out. Informed Decision won this race last year but this year’s race looks tough to call. The entrants for each race in Breeders Cup odds will be determined on Tuesday, November 2nd.
