The horse is expected to be heavily favored in Breeders Cup odds. Last year when she won this race she went off at 7-5. Look for lower odds this time around.
Goldikova – This five-year old mare is extremely talented. She is coming off a victory in the Prix de la Foret on October third. She has won 11 times in her career and has beaten the best milers in the world. If you are looking at playing a pick 4 or pick 6 there is a good chance you are going to single Goldikova.
Heavy Favorite – There is no getting around how good this horse is but she is going to be going off at very low odds at Sbg global.com. She might even go off at even money. That is a big favorite in a Breeders’ Cup race. And it is not like the Mile is going to have a weak field. It could have a number of contenders although none are as talented as Goldikova.
Other Contenders – Gio Ponti looked good last time out in the Shadwell Turf Mile. Proviso has won four straight and she is always a threat. It is possible that either or both of these horses run in another spot but if they run in the mile they are contenders. Gio’s trainer Christophe Clement has said that he might enter Gio Ponti in the Classic but the Mile is a much better choice. Proviso could go in the Filly & Mare Turf, but the Mile looks to be a better spot. Another solid contender in Breeders Cup betting is Rip Van Winkle. Aidan O’Brien is considering the Classic for his horse but it appears the Mile could be the better option. Paco Boy has given Goldikova all she can handle the last three times but come up short each time losing by a half-length, a neck and a neck. Sidney’s Candy is a horse you may have heard of but unless he improves he probably is not a serious threat for trainer John Sadler. Court Vision is another horse that could contend as he was beaten a little over a length by Goldikova last year.
