If you are playing the Pick 6 you will have to either go all in this race of see if you can find the most likely contenders. Let’s take a look at some of the horses that could impact the Breeders Cup odds at Sbgglobal Sportsbook in the Turf Sprint.
Shorter Distance – When you handicap this race you can throw out past Breeders Cup races. This year the Turf Sprint is going to be only five furlongs compared to the 6 ½ furlongs it has been in the past. Last year it was California Flag winning this race but he will not be the favorite this time around.
Silver Timber the Likely Favorite – The favorite in Breeders Cup betting in the Turf Sprint will likely be Silver Timber. This 7-year old horse is coming off a win in the Woodford and looks very good in this race. He has the five-furlong record on the Churchill course which he set earlier this year in the Shakertown. The horse has won eight races since trainer Chad Brown claimed him in April of last year.
Chamberlain Bridge – This is another horse that should be in the mix in the Turf Sprint. He was fourth in the Woodford but was just a length and a half back. He has won three of his four starts at Churchill Downs.
Other Contenders – Also in the mix should be Stadivinsky who was third to Chamberlain Bridge in the Turf Monster Handicap. Tropic Storm was third in the Oak Tree Mile but was in the lead before faltering late. Awakino Cat has won three straight stakes races in New York. Central City was the runner-up in the Woodford and can’t be ignored. Two fillies, Rose Catherine and Unzip Me could also get some action. Rose Catherine has won four in a row for trainer Todd Pletcher. Unzip has won seven of her last eight races.
This looks like a race where you either go with Silver Timber or you look for a price. Any of the horses in the field could win if Silver Timber is off his game.
