Mine That Bird Belmont Stakes Odds at SBG Global

November 30th, 2010 Belmont Stakes Betting

Belmont Stakes odds at the online sportsbook should be low on Mine That Bird, the Kentucky Derby winner.

The horse was second to Rachel Alexandra in the Preakness but showed that the added distance may help him in Belmont odds.  Mine That Bird definitely is a serious contender in Belmont Stakes odds.

Belmont Stakes odds at the sports book also show that Mine That Bird could be getting his jockey back. Calvin Borel, who rode Mine That Bird in the Derby, could be back aboard in Belmont odds if Rachel Alexandra does not run.  And there is no guarantee that the filly races in Belmont odds since nothing is really at stake.  Borel could make Belmont Stakes odds history whether he rides Mine That Bird or Rachel Alexandra.  No jockey has ever won all three Triple Crown races on two different horses.  If Rachel Alexandra does run in Belmont Stakes odds then Borel will stay with her.  Otherwise he could get back aboard Mine That Bird in Belmont odds.

Rachel Alexandra will be the wildcard in Belmont Stakes odds at the online sportsbook.  If she is entered she would probably be the favorite in Belmont Stakes odds but her entrance is not a certainty. Trainer Steve Asmussen is not as sold on running in the Belmont as he was in the Preakness.  "Immediately, right now it doesn’t feel the same as it did before," Asmussen said.  Owner Jess Jackson has said similar things. "She may be coming out more tired than I know," Jackson said.

Mine That Bird had Mike Smith aboard when he finished second in the Preakness Stakes but Smith will not ride Mine That Bird in Belmont Stakes odds as he has a prior commitment to ride Madeo in the Whittingham Stakes at Hollywood Park on Belmont day.

This year’s Triple Crown has been interesting although the drought continues.  No horse has won all three races since Affirmed in 1978 but this year’s Derby saw a 50-1 winner at the sports book, the Preakness saw a filly win and who knows what will happen in Belmont Stakes odds. Mine That Bird was a very solid second in the Preakness and should get attention in Belmont Stakes odds.  His trainer, Chip Woolley is ready for Belmont odds. "I don’t know if it’s as much the distance as it is the track," Woolley said.
