Schumacher Could be Overvalued in F1 Betting

F1 betting is already on the board with odds to win the overall driver and team championships for the 2010 season.

Fernando Alonso is the early favorite to win the driver’s title while Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton are right there as well in F1 odds.  Schumacher is coming out of retirement this year and he could be overvalued in F1 betting.

F1 betting has not seen Schumacher do that well in testing leading up to the season opening race in Bahrain.  Nico Hulkenberg was the fastest in testing at Circuit de Catalunya and was well ahead of Schumacher.  Alonso was right behind Hulkenberg so he looks ready in F1 betting while Pedro De la Rosa of Sauber was right there as well. "Today is nice but means nothing, to be honest," Hulkenberg said. "It's positive for the team, and for me, to know what the car can do." Tonio Liuzzi of Force India and Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel also did well in the resting. Schumacher and Hamilton were more than a second back.  Schumacher is not at all confident the team can win in two weeks at Bahrain in F1 odds. "Maybe not," Schumacher said, "At the moment we are not perfectly in the position we would like to be, to be competitive to win the first races straight away."

That does not sound positive if you are going to back Schumacher in F1 betting.  Perhaps the team can get things going in the right direction soon in F1 odds. "We're working hard, the season is long. The main issue is not to be far off," said Schumacher, "This is very difficult to judge right now, what is the real picture."

If you are looking at the early F1 odds you should be aware that the Ferrari and Red Bull teams look stronger right now than McLaren and Mercedes.
"Clearly there are some teams which are extremely fast and very competitive," Hamilton said. "We feel we're doing a good job, but we still have work to do."

Alonso is the favorite in F1 betting and for good reason. He is very confident heading into the F1 betting season. "I can say it again: It's the best car I've ever driven, but that doesn't mean that it is the best car on the grid," Alonso said. "What's clear is that we have done a great job. We made a list of things before we began testing and today we checked the final item, so I think we arrive in Bahrain having done all we could have done."
