This is the second race of the bet on NASCAR season to be held at the Auto Club Speedway. Here is a look at some of the contenders to consider as you wager at the sportsbook.
NASCAR betting is likely to have Jimmie Johnson as one of the main favorites in this race. He has won this race the last two years in NASCAR betting. Kasey Kahne was the NASCAR betting winner of this race three years ago while Kyle Busch won it in 2005. Elliott Sadler was the NASCAR betting winner in 2004. Johnson is the likely favorite while Kahne could get some attention because of his past success in this race.
Another driver to look at based on past finishes in NASCAR betting is Carl Edwards who has been in the running nearly every time in this race. He was 6th in 2004, 4th in 2005, 4th in 2006, 2nd in 2007 and 6th last year in NASCAR betting.
Although a Chevrolet won last year in NASCAR betting the Fords and Toyotas had good finishes. Greg Biffle was second last year in NASCAR betting with his Ford while Matt Kenseth and Edwards finished 5th and 6th. Denny Hamlin’s Toyota was 3rd with Kyle Busch’s Toyota finishing 7th.
When you look to bet on NASCAR late in the season you have to start with the Chase drivers. That means looking at Jimmie Johnson first followed by the other 11 drivers. Mark Martin is having a great season but he has not had a huge amount of success in this race. Juan Montoya is another Chase driver that has not done much in this race. Kurt Busch and Tony Stewart are always worth considering in NASCAR betting. Denny Hamlin has done well in this race and he is worth taking a shot with as you bet at the sports book. Jeff Gordon, Greg Biffle, Brian Vickers, Carl Edwards and Kasey Kahne are the other Chase drivers. They are not among the leaders though but they have had success in this race and could be worth a shot as you wager at the sportsbook.
