Jamie McMurray was the upset winner last week for those that bet on NASCAR but he is not among the favorites this week in California.
NASCAR betting will have the same favorites as normal as NASCAR moves to Fontana this week. That means Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch, Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, Mark Martin and Matt Kenseth will be among the favorites for those that bet on NASCAR.
Last week those that bet on NASCAR probably didn’t have Jamie McMurray as their choice at Daytona. He was considered a longshot at odds of 20-1 or more. The second place driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr. was more popular in NASCAR betting and sportsbooks are probably happy he didn’t win.
This week NASCAR goes to Fontana for the Auto Club 500. It is one of two races held at the Auto Club Speedway with the other one being the Pepsi 500. Matt Kenseth could be a popular choice among those that bet on NASCAR since he has won this race in three of the last four years. Ford has had a lot of success in this race, winning nine times. Chevrolet has just four wins in this race. This is a much different race track than Daytona so real racing should take place unlike the restrictor plate stuff they had last week at Daytona. That should mean drivers like Johnson and Carl Edwards will be in the running in NASCAR betting. McMurray might be in the hunt as well since his win at Daytona was not a fluke. It will be a long week for McMurray though since the Daytona winner has to go all over the country making personal appearances. Another driver to watch this week could be Greg Biffle who nearly won the Daytona 500 last week in NASCAR betting.
Not to be forgotten this weekend in NASCAR betting is the Nationwide race where Danica Patrick will be in the spotlight again. Patrick didn’t even finish at Daytona so it will be interesting to see how she fares this week at California. She won’t be among the favorites in NASCAR betting but she will be in the NASCAR spotlight.
