NASCAR betting was full of interesting story lines heading into the 2008 season but none dominated the headlines in the off season and the run up to the new NASCAR betting season like the circus surrounding Hendrick Motor Sports.
But through three races, the Hendrick stable of hot shot drivers has been the biggest disappointment of the young NASCAR betting season. NASCAR betting has been fueled by hype ever since its inception but rarely has one team received so much of it in the run to a new auto racing betting season. But ever since Dale Earnhardt Jr. agreed to come over to Hendrick mid-way through last year’s NASCAR betting season, people began talking. With top NASCAR wagering drivers like Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon already in the fold Hendrick looked sure to dominate the rest of the NASCAR betting field with the addition of Junior.
However, things haven’t quite worked out like that on the auto racing betting track. So far, through the first three races of this NASCAR betting season there have been exactly zero victories for Hendrick. Granted the season is still very early, but judging by all the media hype entering the NASCAR betting season you would have expected the team sweep every race.
Earnhardt has been the top driver according to the NASCAR betting points standings and currently sits in 10th place, on the bubble to qualify for NASCAR betting’s post season. Johnson, the two time defending NASCAR betting champion has been running well the last two races after a hugely disappointing run at the season opening Daytona 500. With two consecutive second place finishes he has looked sharp and will surely be contender in NASCAR betting’s Chase.
On the other hand four time champ Jeff Gordon has been simply awful in the auto racing betting so far. He sits in 23rd place among the NASCAR betting point standings. He has also suffered some uncharacteristic car troubles that do not bode well for his quest for a fifth NASCAR betting title.
But when all the dust settles, it’s much too early to tell who will win the NASCAR betting title, and last season Hendrick got off to a similarly sluggish start before dominating the second half of the season.
